How much does it cost?
The cost of each
service can only be determined on a case by case basis. Each
image is unique and that is why we do not have set prices for different
types of jobs. Many small jobs like removing red-eye, adjusting color,
sharpening, cropping, minor touch-ups, color-to-b&w, borders or
frames, painterly effects, etc. are around $5. Major
restorations that take several hours to complete can cost over
$100. Most modifications cost between $10-$30. Send us your picture and we will let you know.
What file format should I send?
We
accept ALL FORMATS, but prefer those that offer better image
quality. Uncompressed files in RAW orTIF formats are large and
of high quality. TIF or TIFF and JPG or JPEG offer high-quality
compression with minimal loss in quality. Avoid GIF and BMP (Bitmap) files as
there is considerable loss in quality with these formats.
What file size should I send?
Generally,
send us the largest file size you have. To create a high quality
print, the image should have 300dpi in the size that you want it..
I don't have a digital camera. How do I scan my photos?
Short
of buying your own dedicated film scanner, the best thing to do is go
to your local photo lab or FedEx Kinkos. Tell them the print size
you want to get out of it. Generally, if you want to print at the
original size then 300dpi is adequate. If you would like us to
double the size (say from 4X6 to 8X12), you should scan at at least
600dpi. Remember that if you are scanning a slide then you will
need a very powerful scanner to get adequate resolution to make
prints. Besides resolution, the dynamic range of a scanner is
very important. This refers to how well a scanner detects details
throughout the tonal range of a photograph. A dynamic range of
4.2 and above is quite good, with 4.8 being outstanding.
